This morning, during a three hour walk, Mr. E-mann toured the Botanic Gardens (one of the MOST beautiful places I've ever been), bought a ticket for a show tonight (yes, OPERA) and had some THAI food (lunch special) on the way back to Surry Hills (where the apartment is). THREE more days of holiday, then off to CANBERRA with the World Projects representative to see where we will be staying, singing and hopefully, dining! Canberra is ABOUT 3 hours drive by car and I'll let you all know if it is curvy or not (when it is curvy, I need Dramamine or some motion sickness medicine, which I bought over the counter at the pharmacy before I left the Coachella Valley)! Here are some more photos of this LOVELY place...one that I can't WAIT to show you, and learn better myself when we are all here, TOGETHER!
Hello AMAZING RMHS CHOIR COMMUNITY (and anyone else watching, reading and traveling)! I've arrived and after a day of TOTAL JETLAG, I'm back and energetic...I'll be posting DAILY photos and information of AUSTRALIA, the SITES and some places where we will be discovering TOGETHER! Sydney seems very similar to San Francisco, but yet totally different...the people are nice, but not 'fake friendly'...everything is super modern and it's a walking city, so bring comfy shoes for TONS of walking to discover this amazingly beautiful city and surrounds! As I visit places, I'll give a little commentary about what I loved...words cannot express the JOY that I have in bringing our group of GREAT YOUNG SINGERS (and a few parents and folks who love you all) on a trip to see a different part of our world! : ) PS...it took nearly a day and a half to get into 'this time zone', so if you feel weird for a day or two when you get here, and wake up at 3am, it's NORMAL! Don't stress and sleep on the bus!
Hi AUSSIE TRAVELERS...here are a few photos of the long walk today...went to the VIBE HOTEL (you are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE it), St. Andrews Cathedral, Westfield Mall and Victoria Center (they are connected and together have more than 400 stores on about 10 levels, both above and below ground...window shopping here is TONS OF FUN), and general walking around...there ARE BIG HILLS, so start walking and getting exercise so you are in the condition to walk a lot!
ATTENTION TO ALL OF OUR AUSSIE TOUR 'FAMILY'! One important thing to know in advance is how much work is going into this tour by our friends at WORLD PROJECTS! As I was talking to the hotel group manager at the VIBE today, she kept commenting on how GREAT the WP Australia folks are to work with...I told her that I've known this for 10 years, as 2006 is when I began a professional relationship with them...this trip, they are working EVEN HARDER to make YOUR EXPERIENCE THE BEST! Please know that we are in GREAT HANDS with World Projects...they ARE the best and WE are grateful for their hard work on our behalf! THANKS DEBORAH, CHRIS, SAUL and the WHOLE WP team (You too, SUSAN...remembering Chicago fondly)!!!!!
Today, after my favorite coffee place (Mr. E-mann is a creature of habit, once I find a place with good coffee and great people, that's where I stop every day...I prefer independent shops, rather than Starbucks places, but they have them here too!), CAFE ORGANISM, I walked to the downtown (CBD) area (about 15-20 minutes only...Sydney is a WALKING CITY, SO BRING COMFY SHOES), but not to the waterfront today...I did a preview of the VIBE hotel, met the manager and our personal 'GROUP' representative and let me tell you, it's SUPER COOL and the staff has already asked you to SING FOR THEM! There are rooms for FOUR SINGERS, each with their own twin beds, as well as triples and doubles...some have fold out sofas with two twin beds, but EVERY TRAVELER GETS THEIR OWN COMFY BED!!!! The pool deck is VERY cool and it has astro turf, so it's comfy for the feet! When I get photos off of my phone, I'll post right away...After the VIBE, I went to see one of the places we will perform, a GORGEOUS cathedral, called (Yes, this is true), ST. ANDREWS (go figure, I've achieved sainthood...OK, probably not, but it's a BEAUTIFUL BUILDING never the less)!!!!! After the walk around the cathedral (they are doing voting there today, so it was busy), I found SHOPPERS PARADISE and did a bunch of window shopping...the Westfield Mall downtown has about 8 floors and 300 stores, so EVERY price range of stuff (and if you are like me, looking is JUST as fun as buying) as you search for gifts for your friends and families back home! Again, SINGING RATTLERS, the AUSTRALIA TOUR IS GOING TO BE EPIC! Yours in MUSIC, STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT and WORLD TRAVELS! Mr. E-mann
Andrew Eisenmann, AKA, Mr. E is writing this blog about RMHS CHOIR TRIPS and TOURS! We've been to CHICAGO, LOS ANGELES and SYDNEY (Australia) together...WHERE WILL WE BE SINGING NEXT? OH, Honolulu, HAWAII!
