ATTENTION AUSSIE TOUR MEMBERS: Mr. Eisenmann JUST heard from NPR (National Public Radio) that LAX TRAFFIC is about the worst it has been in the past 10 years...TRAVEL IS MORE POPULAR THAN EVER, SO LINES WILL BE LONG AND TRAFFIC AT/AROUND THE AIRPORT WILL BE TERRIBLE! PLEASE plan on ARRIVING TO LAX earlier, by about 5:30pm, so we can make CERTAIN that ALL TRAVELERS ARRIVE ON TIME! If you are not on time for ANY REASON, the planes simply will not wait! Even calling Mr. E's cell phone can't hold the plane!!!! SEE YOU TOMORROW AT THE LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT by 7pm at the LATEST, but 5:30 is better! GO SINGING RATTLERS!
ATTENTION AUSSIE TRAVELERS: IF you want to also do the SKYWALK (the scary part) at the SYDNEY TOWER, you MUST PRINT OUT AND HAVE PARENTS SIGN THIS DOCUMENT! PARENT PICTURE MUST ALSO BE WITH THIS DOCUMENT! You MUST MUST MUST get this done if you want to do the SYKDECK!
"Did I remember everything? Is this really happening? Am I going to have fun? Will the concerts be OK, good, great or AMAZING? Will my family be OK while I'm gone? Will I be OK while I'm going? Did I pack the right clothes? Will I make new friends in Australia? Do I have my performance shoes, and my walking shoes?"...This blogger believes that these could be SOME of the questions going through your mind as you go on your first EPIC TRIP/TOUR! DON'T WORRY...chances are that you've done everything pretty darn well. ANYTHING you need can be procured in Australia while you are there and you have some INCREDIBLE adults as chaperones...oh, Mr. E too...and he's a good traveler...a REAL good one. Now lets talk FOOD! HALEY C-E...FRIED CHICKEN! The Taiwan Fried Chicken stand right by the hotel (https://foursquare.com/v/hotstar-large-fried-chicken-%E8%B1%AA%E5%A4%A7%E5%A4%A7%E9%9B%9E%E6%8E%92/53113acc498e228cbde7abf2 ) is SO LIT! I also like the INDIAN restaurant MASALA BOWL right across from World Square Mall...not fancy, but CHEAP and DELISH (https://www.zomato.com/sydney/masala-bowl-cbd). For ITALIAN, I like (and the coffee is GOOD too) MACCHIATO restaurant...their PIZZA IS BOMB! (http://www.macchiato.com.au/)...TIME TO EAT OUT ANYONE?????
Remember, the CHOIR ROOM HAS OFFICE HOURS TODAY FROM 9am - 12noon! Then Mr. E has to pack and get ready...he's driving Hannah and Sara R. to LAX and we are leaving super early, at 9:30am...after 9am, the choir room is shut and locked, so you'll need to have EVERYTHING you need for tour out of there today!
YOURS IN MAKING THE RMHS CHOIR FIRST EVER INTERNATIONAL MUSIC TOUR A HUGE HIT!
SINGING RATTLER PRIDE!
This blogger woke up to do this post! There is a general feeling of EXCITEMENT within this entire web domain...The kids are restless, but not only for the holidays this year (OH, Merry CHRISTMAS EVE. to those who celebrate!), but also for the MUSIC TOUR OF A LIFETIME! When we get settled on the plane, the nervous travelers will soon understand that flying is a non-event...ARRIVING is a FABULOUS EVENT! Mr. E is bringing a new book to read on the plane...it's long and about travel, so it should be fun. There will be video screens, and they provide headphones, but you can also plug in your own earbuds, or noise cancelling headphones, which are more costly, but nice if external sound bothers you!
REMEMBER, you might be sitting by a passenger who is NOT affiliated with our tour, so please, please be respectful...some travelers will want to chat, but some prefer to stay quiet, work on their laptops, or sleep...remember, it's not all about us (but in Mr. E's eyes, 12/28-1/8 is ONLY about SINGING RATTLERS!)!
It's time to start double checking your packing efforts...DON'T PACK TOO MUCH STUFF! You will find that it bothers you more than makes you happy!
MR. E has office hours on the 27th, so if you need ANYTHING, call or swing by the choir room and questions will be answered, assistance will be given and SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS or CRISIS WILL BE MADE!
SINGERS, did you work through EVERY SONG yesterday? WILL YOU 'OWN IT' and WORK ON YOUR TUNES DAILY? Please, sing and dance for the WHOLE FAMILY during the holiday...have FUN memorizing the last bits...COMMIT to choreography and CHAMBERS, work work work your parts on ALL FOUR FEATURES (bel e bon, April, Mad and FA...)...We have a small, but AMAZING men's section, so gentlemen, work harder than ever and you WILL be noticed on tour as AMAZING YOUNG ARTISTS!
BLOGGING WITH SINGING RATTLER PRIDE! HAPPY HOLIDAYS and BE WELL!
Here are a few photos that Lisa took during our FINAL REHEARSAL! MUCH of this made Mr. E VERY VERY HAPPY and a few things were not QUITE there (but oh so close)! We will rehearse on the BUS and at LAX with the CHAMBERS...we will WORK WORK WORK with Liz Scott in Sydney on final performance prep. and techniques! THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY EXCITING! PERFORMERS: Get rest, celebrate your holidays a bit more silently this year, and appreciate and LOVE the people who are helping you go to the other side of the world to learn, share, celebrate your choirs and HAVE TONS AND TONS OF FUN DOWN UNDER! WITH SINGING RATTLER PRIDE AT 7:40am...COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS...the SINGING RATTLER BLOGGER.
Mr. E is INCREDIBLY proud of what we are ending up with for the tour...remember, our FIRST show in Australia is for a VERY important group of people (EVERY show is). Please check the FINAL UPDATED ITINERARY on the AUSSIE TOUR PAGE! Parents and chaperones, we are going to have a SAFE and MAGICAL TIME. Performers, you MUST still go through ALL of the music EVERY day, so we can still work on a few things before the first show...we will be having some rehearsal SOMEWHERE (pool deck vocals Emann is thinking)! BE SAFE, BE RESPECTFUL, BE SUPER RESPONSIBLE and you will create the BEST TIME IMAGINABLE for you and your TOUR MATES! See you all on the 28th, by 7:00pm at LAX QANTAS DEPARTURES TICKETING AREA!
Please make sure that you CHECK THE WEATHER DAILY...looks like PERFECT BEACH WEATHER FOR OUR MANLY BEACH DAY! SEE ALL OF OUR PERFORMERS IN REHEARSAL! CHOIR ROOM OPEN AT 9:00am! SEE OUR PARENTS/GUARDIANS FOR THE SEND OFF SING at 2pm in the CHOIR ROOM...the two left black gates will be opened for campus entry, then all the way around to the choir room entrance (blue door)!
As this tired old blogger finishes up the evening, there are a few thoughts. The weather will be LESS HOT than we originally anticipated, but a travel umbrella (one that can withstand some wind would be best) should be included in packing. Please check your preferred weather site daily.
We are leaving in only 6 days...will we remember everything? Will we make a CONSISTENTLY POSITIVE IMPRESSION ON OUR NEW FRIENDS FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD? Did the organizers (Mr. E, Lisa and WP) do an exceptional job in planning the most exciting tour possible? Will the student performers BUCKLE DOWN and commit to their art forms, practice (A LOT...we are representing our WHOLE COUNTRY) during the final 5 days and make themselves PROUD? Will all SINGING RATTLERS be a part of good decision making during this experience?
Actually, all of these questions are answered by simply using our very own RMHS motto, OWN IT! If EACH performing member OWNS IT, we will make a lasting and wonderful impression on our new friends, have even MORE FUN than imaginable and best of all, we will be PROUD OF WORK WELL DONE!
BE INSPIRED, BE ENCOURAGED, WORK HARD TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS, BE A GREAT CHOIR MATE!
GO SINGING RATTLERS!
HELLO, MATES! Well, we had a MOST MAGNIFICENT rehearsal today...are we TOTALLY ready, maybe/maybe not, but we are working hard and will give some wonderful gifts of EXTRAORDINARY young artists learning how to perform, travel and understand the larger world around them! FIRST -- THE TOUR T SHIRT (Lisa will be bringing them for ALL TOUR MEMBERS...remember they are a gift from the boosters...they may NOT be modified in any way, as we will wear them together for a few of our tour days):
SECOND is the LA TRAVIATA PARTY SONG, BRINDISI! Check out the 2014 GLYNDEBOURN FESTIVAL LINK:
ALSO, CHECK OUT THIS WIKI PAGE ON THE TEXT...it's a festive song, sung at one of the most famous parties in the musical world...EVERYONE KNOWS THIS TUNE...please learn the parts on LA! (Girls, girl part and Boys, boy part)! Matt Barclay and Johanna Puglisi will be working with us on this piece, creating a MUSICAL / DRAMA SCENE! I think it will be GREAT FUN, and happen in one of the coolest building in the world...THE INCREDIBLE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE!
LET'S WORK HARD FOR A FEW MORE HOURS, SING A FEW NUMBERS FOR OUR PARENTS/GUARDIANS...the folks we know and love, and have an AMAZING FEW DAYS OFF...we'll all meet again after tomorrow at LAX...7:00pm on DECEMBER 28th at the QANTAS TICKET COUNTER ON LEVEL TWO (DEPARTURES LEVEL). Mr. Eisenmann will arrive by 5:00pm to meet with our WP tour folks and make sure that all travelers find their way to the right location...he's done this a few times before, so you are all in good traveling hands...we also have some of the MOST AMAZING and TRUSTWORTHY CHAPERONES that I've ever met! Our THREE MAIN CHAPERONES ARE: Lisa Reynolds, Cheryl Webster and Sheila Kato for the girls and Jim Landells and Brian Hodgkins for the boys...remember, ALL ADULTS ON TOUR ARE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT BY ALL STUDENT TRAVELERS!
Andrew Eisenmann, AKA, Mr. E is writing this blog about RMHS CHOIR TRIPS and TOURS! We've been to CHICAGO, LOS ANGELES and SYDNEY (Australia) together...WHERE WILL WE BE SINGING NEXT? OH, Honolulu, HAWAII!
